CDC and FASMEC Collaborate to Enhance SME Contributions to Cambodia's Economy

PHNOM PENH, June 4, 2024 – Key discussions on enhancing the role of the private sector in driving Cambodia's socio-economic development took place at the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC). The talks, involving the Federation of Association for Small and Medium Enterprises of Cambodia (FASMEC), focused on boosting the engagement of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the national economy.

The meeting, held at the CDC Headquarters in Phnom Penh on June 3, was a collaborative effort between Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the CDC, and Te Taing Por, President of the Board of Directors of FASMEC.

During the discussions, Sun Chanthol outlined the CDC’s pivotal role in attracting and supporting investors who are looking to Cambodia as a prime destination for business and investment.

Te Taing Por, on behalf of FASMEC, proposed exploring new avenues for bilateral cooperation between the CDC and FASMEC. He emphasized the need to enhance connectivity and create more opportunities for local Cambodian investors, with a particular focus on empowering SMEs.
